Hans-Martin Foisel
Hans-Martin Foisel is a Senior Project Manager in the Technology Center at T-Systems International / Deutsche Telekom. Currently his work is focused on control plane enabled networks, their architectures, functions, standardization and interoperability aspects. He joined the OIF in 1998, being active mainly in the Networking Working Groups and is chairing since 2002 the Carrier Working Group. Prior to joining Deutsche Telekom, he has worked at Heinrich-Hertz-Institute in Berlin for 19 years in the field of optical transmission systems research. He holds diploma of Electrical Engineering from the University Kassel and the Technical University Berlin, Germany.

Monica Lazer
Monica A. Lazer is a Senior Technology and Services Architect in the Network Design and Performance Analysis department in AT&T Labs. Currently, her work is focused on control plane architecture and requirements for the evolving intelligent network, network resilience analysis and remediation, reliable serices development and support. She is active in multiple industry forums, having authored numerous requirements documents for control plane driven optical networks, including network management, new service deployment, new technology deployment and multi-vendor interoperability. Prior to joining AT&T, Monica worked at Telcordia, where she planned access and transport networks for local exchange carriers. She has an MS and BS from the Polytechnic University, NY, both in Electrical Engineering.

Stephen Shew
Stephen Shew is an Architect in the Optical Networks business unit at Nortel. In his career at Nortel, Stephen has participated in the development and specification of distributed routing protocols, traffic engineering optimization tools, ATM PNNI, and MPLS signalling. His standards involvement has included the ATM Forum and IETF. He is currently participating in ITU-T Study Group 15 and the Optical Internetworking Forum, and contributes to the architecture and protocols for the Automatic Switched Optical Network (ASON). Stephen received his Bachelor of Computer Science from Carleton University and MSc from the University of Toronto.

Jim Jones
Jim Jones is a senior systems engineer with Alcatel-Lucent, joining the company in 1999. He develops architectures and requirements for next-generation transport and switching products in Alcatel-Lucent's Optical Networks Division. Jim is active in standardization work and has contributed to control plane standards and interoperability work in OIF, ITU-T and IETF. He also chaired the Architecture/Signaling Working Group of the OIF from 2001 to 2004. Before joining Alcatel-Lucent, Jim was a Senior Member of Technical Staff with Texas Instruments and Raytheon from 1978 to 1999, developing real-time signal processing and RF systems. He received his BSEE and MSEE from the University of Michigan, and his MS in Telecommunications from Southern Methodist University.

Alessandro D'Alessandro
Alessandro D’Alessandro is a systems engineer in the innovation division unit at Telecom Italia. Currently, his work is focused on transport network evolution (mainly control plane enabled architecture) and on new metro-core architecture and technology scouting. Prior to joining Telecom Italia, Alessandro has worked at Ericsson (formerly Marconi Communications) in the field of optical transmission systems (SDH and DWDM). He received his Bachelor of Electronic Engineering from Politecnico of Torino.

Jeffrey Hutchins
Jeff is currently Director of Business Development for CoreOptics and has been involved in optoelectronic product development for over 29 years. Jeff has been active in developing and promoting standards efforts and has authored many of the Optical Internetworking Forum's tunable laser implementation agreements. Prior to joining CoreOptics, Jeff worked at Hewlett Packard for 22 years managing a wide variety of optical IC efforts. In 2000, Jeff joined iolon where he managed the tunable laser product line, and in 2005, Jeff joined Intel managing telecom product development. Jeff earned his BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

Steve Joiner
Steve has been developing products for emerging fiber-optic communication applications for 25 years. Steve currently works with Finisar Corporation. Prior to joining Finisar, Steve was director of marketing for pluggable transceivers at Bookham. Steve works with both customers and standards bodies to create the best application of technology to meet market needs. Steve joined Hewlett-Packard in 1978, working in III-V devices, fiber-optic cable fabrication, fiber-optic transceiver development and standards development. He was program manager for HP¹s first 1300 nm LED transceiver for the ESCON and FDDI markets. Later, he was responsible for all fiber-optic product development, then moved into technology planning and pre-competitive collaboration. In 1999 he joined the newly-formed Agilent Technologies Corporate Laboratory, where he managed the Network Architecture and Technology Department. He has chaired numerous standards committees, participating in the development several multi-source agreements for fiber-optic packaging. Steve earned his BA, MA and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from Rice University in Houston.

Dave Brown

Dave Brown is a Senior Director of Marketing for Alcatel-Lucent where he leads the strategic marketing and cross-product solutions marketing teams for the Optics Business Division. In this role Dave is responsible for global market development and pre-sales support. His team focuses on developing and marketing all-packet transport solutions for carriers, MSOs, and enterprises. This work focuses on Ethernet, triple play, wireless transport, and storage area networking applications. In his 25 years experience in telecommunications marketing, Dave has led global marketing programs for products and services across the telecommunications value chain– from PBXs and PC Cards to microprocessors, multiplexers and manufacturing services. Recently, Dave was re-elected to the position of Co-Chair - Marketing, Awareness and Education Committee – Networking of the Optical Internetworking Forum. Dave has completed executive education programs at The Wharton School-University of Pennsylvania and Thunderbird-The Garvin Graduate School of International Management.

Lyndon Ong
Lyndon Ong is currently Director of Network Control Architecture in the CTO organization of Ciena Corporation, a supplier of intelligent optical and data transport equipment. Dr. Ong joined Ciena in 2001 after working at Nortel Networks, Bay Networks and Bellcore/Telcordia. He received his doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in 1991. He has had a long career in the area of control protocols, starting with the original team defining Signaling System 7 standards for North America, to working on ATM networking, IP QoS and SCTP transport protocols and finally the optical control plane. Dr. Ong has chaired groups in ITU-T Standards, currently chairs the Signaling Transport WG in IETF, and was editor of the OIF E-NNI Signaling 1.0 Implementation Agreement.

Chuck Sannipoli
Chuck Sannipoli has over 35 years experience in all aspects of the networking industry. He is currently employed by IP Infusion as their Primary Representative to the OIF . Prior to his current position, he was Vice President and General Manager of the Network Processor Group at IP Infusion Inc. Prior to IP Infusion, Chuck completed a career at IBM during which he held key senior management positions in the Networking business area, spanning hardware and software research and development, as well as product and program management. Chuck was instrumental in the creation of, and was the initial Chairman of the Network Processing Forum, a position he held until his departure from IBM. He was reelected to the NPF Board of Directors in June of 2002 on behalf of IP Infusion. Chuck was once again elected to Chair the NPF at the July 2005 Annual Meeting, which position he held until successfully leading the merger of the NPF into the OIF. Chuck is a strong advocate of network processing and holds several patents and patents pending in IBM’s portfolio based on this technology. Chuck holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
