Ghani Abbas
Ghani Abbas has spent over twenty years in SDH and Optical Networks business, initially with GPT, Marconi and recently with Ericsson, UK. He is currently international standards Consultant in the Optical Networks product strategy department. He previously held various engineering development and management posts. He is currently the rapporteur for ITU-T SG15 Q9, which develops standards for transport network equipment and network protection and restoration. He is an active member of IEEE802.3, OIF, ITU-T SG15. Ghani received B.Sc (Honour) from Manchester University in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D degree in Electronics from Southampton University, UK.

Martha Fratt
Martha Fratt is Principal Member of Technical Staff in the Network Technology Certification organization at AT&T Labs. Currently she works in network element certification, interoperability of optical network equipment, and consulting on telecommunications network issues.
Previously she led a team in OSS certification for network restoration.
Prior to joining AT&T, she was engaged in software systems development and scientific software development for Computer Sciences Corp (CSC) at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center on projects including scientific investigations, satellite scheduling, and satellite data processing.
She recently served as Chair of OIF Interoperability Working Group, Networking. She received her BA in physics from Swarthmore College and MS in Electrical Engineering from University of California at Berkeley.

Jim Jones
Jim Jones joined Alcatel-Lucent in 1999 and is currently Optics Transport Applications Marketing Manager. In this role Jim develops and supports global marketing and sales of cross-product optical transport solutions, leading a virtual team of product managers, marketing, CTO, network architects, and regional solutions and marketing members. His team focuses on intelligent optical solutions enabled by innovations in control plane and cross-layer automation. Jim is active in standardization work and has contributed to control plane standards and interoperability work in OIF, ITU-T and IETF. He chaired the OIF Architecture/Signaling Working Group from 2001 to 2004 and the OIF Technical Committee from 2004 to 2007. Before joining Alcatel-Lucent, Jim was a Senior Member of Technical Staff with Texas Instruments and Raytheon from 1978 to 1999, developing real-time signal processing and RF systems. He received his BSEE and MSEE from the University of Michigan, and his MS in Telecommunications from Southern Methodist University.

Lyndon Ong
Lyndon Ong is currently Director of Network Control Architecture in the CTO organization of Ciena Corporation, a supplier of intelligent optical and data transport equipment. Dr. Ong joined Ciena in 2001 after working at Nortel Networks, Bay Networks and Bellcore/Telcordia. He received his doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University in 1991. He has had a long career in the area of control protocols, starting with the original team defining Signaling System 7 standards for North America, to working on ATM networking, IP QoS and SCTP transport protocols and finally the optical control plane. Dr. Ong has chaired groups in ITU-T Standards, currently chairs the Signaling Transport WG in IETF, and was editor of the OIF E-NNI Signaling 1.0 Implementation Agreement.

Vishnu Shukla
Vishnu Shukla is a Principal Technologist at Verizon. He has more than 25 years experience in optical network design and development, technology transfer and overall technology planning. His current responsibilities include development of the next generation network architecture, analyzing the current state-of-the-art technology trends and developments and evaluation of its strategic impact on Verizon. Vishnu contributes to the Verizon’s participation in multi-disciplined standards concerning leading edge technologies. He holds a PhD from the University of Wales, U.K. and an MBA from Northeastern University, Boston. He is a member of IEEE and OSA.

Rod Smith
Rod Smith has 10 years experience in Product Management and Business Development for TE Connectivity. Currently, he is a Global Industry Lead, driving new product development for Data Center applications. Rod is the OIF Market Awareness and Education Committee Co-Chair - Physical and Link Layer. Additionally, he is active in numerous industry standards, including T10 and T11 working committees under INCITS, the Small Form Factor (SFF) committee and supports TE Connectivity's global industry standards presence. Rod earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Wake Forest University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Pennsylvania State University.

Jonathan Sadler
Jonathan Sadler is a Senior Product Planner in the Optical Network Group at Tellabs. With over 20 years of data communications experience as a protocol implementer, network element designer, carrier network operations manager, and carrier network planner, Jonathan brings a broad set of knowledge and experiences to the design and analysis of carrier network technology. Currently, Jonathan is involved in the development of technologies providing the efficient transport of packet oriented services in Carrier Networks. Jonathan is the Chairman of the Optical Internetworking Forum's Technical Committee and an active participant in the IETF and ITU. Jonathan studied Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

Nathan Tracy
Nathan Tracy has 29 years of experience in Technology Development, Marketing, Sales, and Business Development for TE Connectivity (formerly Tyco Electronics). The initial 16 years were with M/A-COM prior to being acquired by TE Connectivity. Currently, he is a Global Industry Manager at TE, driving new product development for the Data Communications Market. He serves the OIF as the Technical Committee Vice Chair. Nathan is involved in a number of other outside industry associations. Presently he is a regular attendee and contributor to the Ethernet Alliance, and IEEE 802.3. Nathan earned his Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering Technology degree from the University of Massachusetts, North Dartmouth.
